Orthodontic Treatment (Braces)

What is orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of your teeth, gums, and jaw joints by spreading the biting pressure over all your teeth with orthodontic appliances.
Orthodontic treatment uses appliances to correct the position of teeth.
The four main types are:
- Fixed Braces – a brace you cannot remove which is made up of brackets that are glued to the front of each tooth and linked with wires
- Removable Braces – usually plastic plates that cover the roof of the mouth and clip on to some teeth; these can only be used to achieve limited tooth movements.
- Functional appliances – usually a pair of removable plastic braces that are joined together or designed to interact together and fit onto both the upper and lower teeth
- Headgear – This is not an orthodontic appliance. However, it can be used in conjunction with others and is often used at night.
- Other braces, such as aligners or invisible or lingual braces that fit on the back of the teeth are available.
The emergence of invisible appliances capable of straightening your teeth and correcting orthodontic issues in months has revolutionised the field of orthodontics. It is a gentler and more patient-friendly method that does not require tooth extraction (in most cases). Braces aren't just for straightening teeth. Orthodontics helps your smile and whole facial structure by establishing symmetry and aligning the jaws.
Invisible braces
Braces have developed considerably and no longer have to be the visible appliances they previously were. Manoj Dental Care offers a variety of invisible braces that provide effective straightening without the inconvenience and potential for visual shame associated with traditional braces. Invisalign, Invisalign light, and other similar products are available.
Invisalign
Invisalign is a breakthrough in orthodontics that provides a fantastic alternative to metal braces. One of the best aspects of this method is that no metal wires or bands are used. The patient is fitted with clear custom aligners that do all the jobs. It is invisible and acts as an aligner, hence the name Invisalign. This device is appropriate for adults and older teenagers.
